At Make Giving Happen we have a new feature that we are really excited about. We now have a social media login added to our platform!
Why is social login important?
Have you heard of password fatigue? We’re sure you have.
Do you ever go back to a website and attempt to sign in but then told that the password or username is incorrect? Do you swear that it is correct? (Frustrating isn’t it?)
Did you forget your password? Then have to reset it, create a new one (maybe be told the password can’t be the same as the last one) and then sign in again?
If you have answered yes, we are sure you know what may follow.
Closing the website completely.
The scary thing is your donors will do the same thing, should they encounter this problem. Simplifying login can make the difference between potential donors adopting your platform or fleeing at the sign in page. They are already familiar with social media login, utilize that.
Why do social media and crowdfunding work together?
Social media and crowdfunding go hand in hand. Crowdfunding campaigns are often heavily pushed to social media, to maximize publicity efforts. As people see your crowdfunding campaign on social media they can sign up very quickly, in just one click. And create their account in only a matter of seconds.
(if you wish to review the importance of social media and crowdfunding click here for our blog).
Why do your donors care?
Any website user wants signing up to be as easily as possible (particularly Gen Y). To keep them on your site (and donating) social media login can help prevent the frustration of signing in.
What social media login can you use on the Make Giving Happen’s platforms?
- Facebook login
- Twitter login
- LinkedIn login
- Google Plus login
All built on making it as easy as possible for anyone to join your community.
Do you share user information directly with social platforms?
We don’t share user information directly with social platforms. Social logins are used to authenticate the user. And social media platforms will be able to see which projects have been viewed based on the sharing widgets.
Beyond that and Google Analytics, we don’t share any data with third parties.
